The People

I'm Maurine Gilbert, the owner of Tigri Flowers. I've always loved flowers, and Tigri is a chance for me to share that love with others.

In 2015 I apprenticed in floral design with Sarah Ryhanen and Deanna Nairns at Saipua. You can learn more about Sarah's work in The New York Times and Vogue. Her flowers and her approach to work and community continue to inspire me. I have freelanced for both Saipua and The Nouveau Romantics.

When I talk about Tigri, I tend to say "we." Our team includes my mom, Sue Gilbert, who introduced me to gardening and is a natural floral designer. My dad, Don Gilbert, tends the bees, runs the heavy machinery on the farm, and helps engineer large scale floral installations. I call on a group of talented freelancers for help with larger weddings and events.

That's me with Tucker on the left. Tucker lived at Nandi Animal Rescue, a project of my friends at Yoga Vermont.
